The Free Port exists so that port and transit facilities of Trieste are available for use on equal terms by all international trade, and by the successor States of Yugoslavia (for example Slovenia and Croatia), Italy and the States of Central Europe, in the manner customary in other free ports of the world. Il Porto Libero esiste affinché le strutture portuali e di transito di Trieste siano disponibili, in condizioni di parità, a tutto il commercio internazionale e agli Stati successori della Jugoslavia (ad esempio Slovenia e Croazia), all’Italia e agli Stati dell’Europa centrale, nel modo usuale negli altri porti liberi del mondo.
